Ethos
Our school is a caring community where everyone is equally valued and there is a culture of mutual respect between children and adults. We aim to maximise the potential for children’s learning by creating a safe environment where children have high self esteem and a sense of pride in their achievements and in their school itself.
Aims
- To create and maintain a caring and secure environment where there is mutual respect for all people.
- To develop self discipline and the ability to work co-operatively.
- To foster a caring attitude for the school environment and equipment.
- To help children act responsibly and to understand the consequences of their actions, both individually and as a group.
- To give children strategies to understand and control their behaviour.
- To help children respond appropriately to others’ behaviour.
- To treat each other fairly and consistently.
Guidelines
- Partnership between home and school will be fostered by good communication, shared understanding of school discipline policy, and fair treatment of all parties. It will be explained to everyone in school that witnessed bad behaviour will always be reprimanded, to reinforce our policy of teaching the children to respond appropriately. However, attempts will be made to ascertain where provocation has occurred.
- We will teach children strategies to behave and respond appropriately.
- A clear school code of conduct will be agreed annually and reinforced consistently throughout the school year as a reminder to children of our expected standard of behaviour.
- All staff at the school will be included in formulating and carrying out discipline policy, to ensure consistency.
Code of conduct
- We think before we speak or act so that we are kind to each other in the words we say and the things do.
- We look after our school and everything in and around it.
- We look and listen when we are being spoken to.
- We follow instructions from members of staff straight away.
- We try our best to give 100%.
- We help to make our school a place where everyone can learn and have fun.
