Newsletter N0 16. Term 4, 2007/8
2nd April 2008
Dear parents,
I hope you all enjoyed the Book Day celebrations on Monday. I thought the children looked wonderful in their costumes and they all seemed to have fun on the day. Thank you for supporting the event with such enthusiasm. The Gazette reporter came to take a photograph of the event, so look out for it in your paper next week!
On 28th April, we have arranged for a sports coach to spend the day with us, running sessions with all the classes. Please make sure your child has a PE kit with them on that day.
The annual summer service has been rearranged for 9.30a.m. on Wednesday 2nd July (it was previously to be held on 25th June). This will enable us to apply for the older children to take part in the Need Less Greed event, where several schools gather together for drama, art and ICT workshops on global issues.
In order to help you keep track of dates as we go through the term, I intend to include a list at the bottom of each newsletter, which will be added to as time goes on. I hope this will be helpful.
I understand there have been a few problems recently with letters ‘going astray’. Children are not always the most reliable of postmen and with so much going on in school, I realise it may be hard to keep track of letters. Newsletters should be available on the website www.rangeworthyschool.ik.org . Some parents have opted to receive letters by email, so if you would like to join them, please let me know. You can do this in person or by emailing the school on rangeworthyprimary.school@southglos.gov.uk . However, if you access a letter by email which requires a response, please print off and return the hard copy.
Can I remind you that the playground and grass area are not supervised by staff after school hours, so please collect your children and supervise them closely at the end of the school day. The children are your responsibility once they have been handed over to you. Our insurance for the play equipment does not cover pre-school children at any time, or school children out of hours. Also, it is difficult to notice children who have not been collected when there are lots of children running around after school. I hope you understand that I do have to consider the children’s safety and be clear about responsibility for them at all times.
Whilst on the subject of safety, please remember do not drop the children off from your car at the gate. This area needs to be kept clear of vehicles, so please park and walk into school.
Lastly, I wish you all a very happy holiday.
Yours sincerely,
Mrs. Jane Hewitt
