19th October 09

Dear parents,

This week is Safety week, which will focus on Fire Safety, Stranger Danger, Road Safety and E Safety. The aim of the week is to raise children’s awareness of how to keep themselves and others safe.  We are planning a range of activities and visitors, so it should be an exciting week to finish the first term of the year.

Governors are also busy updating our safeguarding arrangements by reviewing our Child Protection Policy, which is available for you to view. Copies of this and all our policies are available in the office and will soon be available on the school website www.rangeworthyschool.ik.org . If you haven’t looked at the website yet, please do – you could even put a comment in the guest book! We have just had an enquiry from a family in South Africa who are looking for a school in the area and are impressed by our website, so people further afield are obviously using it!

Years 3 and 4 are really enjoying the class recorder lessons being given this term. Mr. Maloney is leading the sessions, making them really enjoyable for the children. He is a peripatetic music teacher who also comes into school regularly to teach brass. If your child would like to learn an instrument, please enquire in the office for details of this opportunity. We would welcome beginners or players who might like to take this up again now that we have such a brilliant teacher available.

The school photographer will be in school this Thursday 22nd October. He is coming in the afternoon, so if you would like your child’s younger siblings to be photographed, please bring them along at 3.15. Thank you.

I am also sending home a leaflet to explain the Parent Support Advisers, which is a free support service offering advice and support for parents. Please let me know if you feel this service would be useful to you.

We are still looking for help at lunchtime so please ask for details if you are interested in a part time position helping to supervise the children .

I hope you enjoy the ‘half term’ break and look forward to seeing you on Monday 2nd November, the first day of Term 2.

Yours sincerely,

Mrs. Jane Hewitt.
