Newsletter N0 2. Term 3, 2006/7
16th January 2007
Dear parents,
I am pleased to tell you that our Anglican inspection earlier this month was very successful. The inspector had a busy day, which included observations of children at work and play, plus interviews with all representatives from the whole school community. As usual, the children did us proud in all respects. The inspector was very complimentary about the school and identified three areas of ?established strength?; Collective Worship, RE and Care/ Well being. Many thanks to those of you who were involved on the day.
Thanks to all who attended the recent meeting about the ?Walking Bus? proposed by the Travel Plan committee. Unfortunately we are unable to set up this initiative at the moment due to traffic problems. This makes us even more determined to bring pressure to bear on ?the powers that be? to introduce traffic calming measures on the main road. I will keep you informed as things progress.
My thanks are also due to Mr. Vosper, Mrs. Romain and Mr. Clements, who have been a great help in dealing with our flooding problems, by clearing the playground of debris. Mr. Vosper has also been liaising with Wessex Water and even came to school at the weekend for some ?hands on? drainage work. It seems at this school that there is always someone who will step in to help in a crisis and just get on with what needs to be done. THANK YOU.
On the subject of drainage, we are currently investigating the problem with the puddle in the playground. There is a question mark over whether or not the water there is clean, so I must ask you to keep your children and toddlers away from the puddle, please.
Tickets are now on sale for the quiz night on Saturday 3rd February at the village hall. Please come along to support this event ? it is very ?low stress? and the bar will be open! Tickets are available from Mrs. Woolnough, or ask in the office and we will get some for you.
Yours sincerely,
Mrs. Jane Hewitt
