Newsletter N0. 3, Term 3, 2006/7
8th February 2007
Dear parents,
Thanks very much to all who attended the quiz evening last Saturday. The village hall was really packed and a good time was had by all, raising in excess of £500 for the school.
My particular thanks are due to Mr. Pratt for compiling and marking the questions, Mr. Woolnough for being a brilliant quizmaster, Mrs. Culliford and Mrs. Woolnough for coping with the large demands on the bar, Mrs. Romain for helping with the marking, Mrs.Bazzone and Mrs.Vosper for organising the raffle, and other parents for helping to run the evening. We really appreciate the wonderful support you all give, either by running or attending School Association events.
The staff have been busy preparing a list of resources that we would like to buy with the money you have raised, so we will soon be purchasing some new musical instruments, reading books, cookery equipment, ?digital blue? cameras, construction materials etc., etc. Having these resources will really enhance the children?s educational experiences, so thank you very much indeed from all of us!
As you know, Mr. Vosper very kindly investigated the problem with the puddle in the playground. The gully has now been cleaned out, which should solve the drainage problem in the short term. Apparently, the water there is not connected to the drainage pipes, so the water there is ?clean.? so I must ask you to keep your children and toddlers away from the puddle, please.
Teaspoon amnesty! Mrs. Watkins says that she often lends teaspoons to children who have yogurts in their lunchboxes. The teaspoons are not being returned to her, which means that she is now short of them. We have already lost 8 since the beginning of term. If your child has brought home school teaspoons, please return them to school as soon as possible. Thanks.
Lastly, thank you for your generous support of our UNICEF Day for Change, which raised £31.90 to send in aid of education of children in poor areas in Kenya.
Yours sincerely,
Mrs. Jane Hewitt
