Newsletter N0.3, Term 4, 2006/7

2nd April 2007

Dear parents,

Many thanks to Mr. and Mrs. Watson and Mr Phelps, who worked really hard demolishing the old shed on Saturday morning. It proved to be quite a task, and we have yet to begin putting together the new shed!

Last week?s whole school work on environmental issues was very successful. Our visitors from Friends of the Earth ran an interesting session about to climate change. They have very kindly arranged some wonderful prizes of solar-powered radios, for the three winners of the ?making a difference? competition we sent home. So make sure your child returns his/her entry by Tuesday! We will be continuing to work towards being an ?Eco School? over the coming months.

Thank you very much for your contributions to the ?bring and buy? sale, which raised £40 towards our wildlife garden. We are contacting Avon Wildlife Trust for help with setting this up in the near future.

All the children are taking part in ?Experience Easter at the church. This has been set up by members of the church (namely Mrs. Cox and Mrs. Hardwick) in order to provide a ?hands on? experience of the Easter story. The church looks wonderful and children who have been already have really enjoyed it. Many thanks to Jenny, Margaret and Dawn for providing such a meaningful experience for the children. The church is open during the day, so do go and have a look if you would like to see the displays.

The school vision statement is now complete. It seems a long time since the meeting in November, when we asked for parents? views on what the school?s aims are. Since then, we have consulted with children, staff and governors, so that everyone in the school community has ?ownership?. I hope you will feel it has been worth the wait! If there is anything in the statement which you would like to discuss, please let me know.

I would lastly like to take this opportunity to wish everyone a happy and restful Easter break. The first day of Term 5 is Thursday 19th April.

Yours sincerely,

Mrs. Jane Hewitt
